Vega, Suzanne - 99.9F°
**½
Includes a couple of excellent, minimalist funk songs with interesting musical effects but most of the rest of this LP is dull, unmelodic and rather pretentious.
Released - 1992

Verve - Urban Hymns
**½
Although I really like the 2 big hits Bitter Sweet Symphony and The Drugs Don't Work on their own, I can't get into this album after several attempts. I find many of the melodies predictable, musical passages unmemorable and above all, the overall mood unsympathetically depressing. Sorry to any Verve fans reading this review who think it's a masterpiece! A friend once told me that this album had been returned to more second hand record shops than any other LP. I've no idea from where he got this information but am afraid I can see why this may be the case.
Released - 1997
Acquired by me: 18.10.97 - Bought
